My (New) Morning Routine
Over that last month, I have really re-engineered my entire life. And it is all for the better. One of the main things I have done is totally revamp my morning routine.
I have always tried to get a few things done in the morning to start my day off, but I found that I was never really consistent with my efforts. However, since I have been gamifying my daily habits, my morning routine has really taken off.
Here is my step-by-step morning routine.
1. Meditation
The first thing I do every morning is to meditate. This really sets up my entire day. I have had an on-again off-again relationship with meditation over the last ten years. Now it is an essential part of my day. If I ever do skip meditating I really notice it.
I use an app called Headspace but you can use anything you want. I meditate for 15 minutes.
2. One Mile Walk
After my meditation, I head out for a one-mile walk around my neighborhood. It tracks my progress with the Google Fit app to make sure I get enough “heart points.” These “heart points” are tracked for each minute of activity that gets your heart pumping to a certain level. According to the American Heart Association, you should be getting 150 heart points per week.
